Samsung Galaxy Note - Is it too big??

"The Samsung GALAXY Note is the first phone to go over the 5-inch screen mark with its 5.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of the whopping 800 x 1280 pixels (WXGA), resulting in pixel density of 285ppi. It also stands out with its built in stylus and apps supporting pen input. Under the hood, a Samsung 1.4GHz dual-core chip powers Android 2.3 Gingerbread skinned with TouchWiz. The Galaxy Note also sports an 8-megapixel rear camera capable of 1080p video recording, while up front there is a 2-megapixel shooter".

Those are the specs for the upcoming Galaxy note. Here we are where most people think my phone (The Galaxy S2) is huge and along comes the 'Note" what are they going to say to that?? Damn that things huge??. I must say that the spec's are nice and i am sure they might even get better by the time this "little" thing gets to us State side as we saw with the Galaxy S2. You can bet there will be 4 touch sensitive buttons along the bottom instead of the one large home button. Samsung has already said that they would be releasing ICS for the note so not to worry.

As they say what is old will become new again and here we see it in the stylus. Here i thought that gone were the day of the old Palm hand helds with the stylus and that we had moved on to complete touch screens. But i guess really there is only so much you can do with the tips of your fingers. The functionality of the stylus looks great and they even have a couple games pre-installed on the note that takes advantage of the stylus. So will you want a "Note " in your pocket this year?? Does this replace your need to carry both a tablet and a phone??
please feel free to leave your comments and thought at the bottom
Thx

Change of Phone and Carrier

Well as with all of us we are all trying to save a penny here and a penny there so to do that i decided to switch carriers and move from Big Red to TMO. After much debate and asking the opinion of some friends I found myself at T-Mobile.

Went from the Droid Bionic to the great Galaxy S2. Man this phone is a nice, so fast and boots up quickly. It packs a dual core 1.5 Ghz, 1GB Ram and comes with 16 Gigs of on board storage. SO i dropped my 32 gig micro sd card and im good to go. Blazing fast no issues, well apart from the touch whiz which on this phone is not so bad and there are a few trick with this phone like the tilt to move and voice talk which allows you to do almost everything on the phone with just talking to it. You can even wake it up by either tapping the top of the phone or saying "hi Galaxy" it then prompts you to say a command. It's awesome and really comes in handy when driving.

OK i always tell myself with every new phone that i will not root it and i usually hold out for a few weeks but with my friends getting the Galaxy Nexus i was compelled to Root it and get ICS on there which i did. Not the full ICS experience but close enough some of the best elements of it anyway like swipe to clear notifications, text messaging , the cool blue colors and the Roboto fonts. Needless to say i'm cool with this phone and although my friends will laugh in my face when i say i see myself hanging on to this phone for a good while i really do believe i can hold out but then again only time will tell.

Back Again

Well its been a long time and I have not been doing what i said I would but thats what New Years Resolutions are for. So starting now i promise to keep this site updated.

Well what has happened in the past few months?? Galaxy Nexus has come and gone and everyone else is stuck waiting for the release of Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) we were all promised that after the release of the code that within a few months we would see it trickle out to the rest of phones but as we all know how that goes. We hear first quarter so of course that means by April OMG, i have to say that's one thing Apple has up on android is when they have an update it goes out to all on the same day no waiting around.

Another thing i'm worrying about is when we do eventually get the ICS update it wont look as clean and polished as the Galaxy Nexus but with all this skinning and overlay like Touch Whiz, Blurr, and Sense. I thought this Version was to bring all together?? There is a leaked version of ICS for the European version of ICS for the Galaxy S2 and from the Youtube videos that I have seen it still looks like Touch Whiz, granted this is the leaked version and hopefully some of that will change. I do hope however that they keep the face unlock feature.

Well that's enough ranting for one post i should save some for the next .....until next time
